When a periodic abnormal noise comes from the reducer while the scrubbing machine is running, it is an equipment hazard that many customers have encountered. The sound gradually changes from a slight "clunk" to a harsh metal friction noise. If not handled in time, the reducer gears or bearings will be damaged, and the entire scrubbing machine will be forced to shut down. Replacing the reducer takes at least one or two days and up to three to five days, directly affecting production line operation.

Gear wear or poor meshing is the most common source of abnormal noise. The reducer of the scrubbing machine works for a long time under high load and dusty conditions. The gear tooth surfaces gradually wear, the backlash increases, and impact occurs between the gears during operation, producing a periodic "clunk" sound. During inspection, open the reducer observation hole, turn the input shaft by hand, and feel whether the gears mesh smoothly and whether there are obvious wear marks or pitting on the tooth surfaces. If the tooth surface wear is severe, the gear pair must be replaced. Do not replace only a single gear; otherwise, the new and old gears will mesh poorly, and the abnormal noise will soon reappear.

Bearing damage can also cause abnormal noise. After the reducer bearings run short of oil or are overloaded for a long time, the balls wear and the cages deform, producing a sharp friction sound or a dull impact sound during operation. Touch the reducer housing by hand. If the temperature at one point is noticeably higher than at other parts, the bearing there is most likely damaged. It is recommended to check the reducer oil level and oil quality every 500 working hours, and replace the oil immediately if it turns black or contains iron filings. When changing the oil, drain the old oil completely and clean the sediment at the bottom of the oil tank.

Poor lubrication will accelerate the wear of all components. When the reducer lubricating oil is insufficient or the oil quality deteriorates, the gears and bearings are in a state of dry friction or semi-dry friction, and the wear rate increases exponentially. Check whether the oil level is near the center line of the sight glass and whether the oil is emulsified or contains impurities. If the oil is found to be emulsified, it indicates that the cooling water circuit may be leaking. Check whether the reducer cooling coil is damaged.

During daily inspections, pay attention to listening to the operating sound of the reducer. If abnormal noise is found, stop the machine promptly and troubleshoot. Do not wait until the gear teeth break or the bearing seizes up.
