FAQ

Q

What information is needed in advance to set up a quartz sand production line?

A

First, you need to provide the test and assay report of the raw quartz ore to clarify the content of iron, feldspar, and mica impurities in the ore; in addition, confirm the planned capacity in t/h, the target finished product specifications and applications (plate sand / fracturing sand / photovoltaic sand), the size of the plant site, and local environmental protection policy requirements. Based on the above information, we will then carry out targeted process planning and equipment selection.

Q

Is the wet process or the dry process better for quartz sand?

A

If the raw ore contains a lot of mud and clay impurities, the **wet process** is preferred, as scrubbing and desliming give better iron removal; if the raw ore has little mud, is mainly for powder production, and the site lacks water, the dry process is suitable. High-end high-purity photovoltaic sand mostly uses a complete purification process based on the wet method, but the specific choice should still be based on the raw ore assay results.

Q

Can the wastewater from a quartz sand production line be recycled?

A

After the slurry wastewater from the wet production line is treated by a thickener for sedimentation and a plate-and-frame filter press, the clear water can be returned and reused in a closed loop; the tailings mud is pressed into dry filter cakes for external disposal. This enables water recycling and reuse, reducing fresh water consumption. However, the wastewater from the acid washing stage requires an independent, dedicated neutralization treatment system and cannot be directly recycled.

Q

How much does a quartz sand production line cost?

A

There is no fixed price for equipment investment; it mainly depends on the hourly processing capacity, finished product purity specifications, and process configuration (whether flotation and acid washing stages are added). The equipment costs for ordinary slab sand, frac sand, and high-purity photovoltaic sand vary greatly. After you provide the ore assay and capacity requirements, we will prepare a solution and then give you an accurate quotation.

Q

Can you undertake EPC turnkey services for the entire production line?

A

Yes. We can provide one-stop EPC turnkey services covering ore process solution design, production and manufacturing of the full equipment set, on-site installation guidance and commissioning, technical training for operators, and post-project maintenance guidance; you may also purchase just a single piece of equipment for flexible cooperation.

Q

What is the difference between a rod mill and a vertical sand making machine for quartz sand?

A

The wet rod mill produces rounded particles with few needle-like flakes, suitable for slab sand and fracturing sand; the vertical high-purity sand making machine has high crushing efficiency and adjustable discharge particle size, mostly used for dry sand making or secondary fine crushing. Choose the grinding equipment according to the finished product particle shape requirements.

Q

Does a magnetic separator achieve higher product purity with more stages?

A

It's not simply a case of more stages being better. The number of magnetic separation stages needs to match the types of magnetic impurities in the ore; permanent magnetic equipment removes strongly magnetic iron impurities, while vertical ring high-gradient magnetic separators remove weakly magnetic impurities such as mica. The process needs to be reasonably combined—excessively increasing the number of magnetic separation stages only adds investment and energy consumption.

Q

What environmental aspects should be given key attention when building a new quartz sand plant?

A

For the wet process, focus on tailings slurry filter-press dry discharge and wastewater treatment; for the dry process, focus on enclosed dust removal for the entire system; if an acid washing section is planned, it must be equipped with hazardous chemical storage and wastewater neutralization treatment facilities. Local environmental impact assessment requirements need to be implemented before planning the production line.

Q

What should I do if the production line equipment fails later? How is after-sales support handled?

A

Technical documentation is provided after equipment delivery. For faults, we can troubleshoot through remote technical communication; for major equipment issues, we can arrange for an engineer to visit on-site. We also supply wearing parts and can provide on-site maintenance training for customer operators to reduce the probability of future downtime.

Q

Can an old quartz sand production line still be upgraded and renovated?

A

Yes, existing old production lines can be upgraded and renovated. For example, adding scrubbing equipment, adding vertical ring high-gradient magnetic separators, adding flotation sections, and upgrading dewatering and filter press equipment to improve the purity or processing capacity of the finished sand; we can conduct on-site surveys of old production lines and provide renovation and optimization plans.
