Quartz Sand Wet Rod Mill
- Product details
-
This wet rod mill is an improved version of traditional rod mills, developed by our company to address the high hardness and poor grindability of minerals such as quartz and feldspar. It delivers outstanding results in producing quartz sand and feldspar with particle sizes ranging from 20 to 150 mesh.
Working Principle
The rod mill is driven by a motor through a reducer and a large peripheral gear for speed reduction, or directly by a low-speed synchronous motor through a large peripheral gear. This drives the cylinder to rotate. The cylinder is loaded with an appropriate grinding medium—steel rods. Under the action of centrifugal force and friction, the steel rods are lifted to a certain height and then fall in a cascading or cataracting motion. The material to be ground continuously enters the cylinder through the feed opening, is crushed by the moving steel rods, and the qualified particle-size product is discharged from the cylinder through overflow and the force of continuous feeding, ready for the next stage of processing.
The rod mill adopts an overflow-type, open-end discharge method. The diameter of the hollow trunnion at the discharge end is larger than that of a ball mill of the same specification. When the ore is not too hard or is relatively soft (especially highly viscous ore), the rod mill can replace a short-head cone crusher for fine crushing. When grinding 19-30mm ore down to 6-12 mesh, it offers a simpler configuration and lower cost compared to a closed-circuit setup of cone crusher and screening. The rod mill is also widely used for processing non-metallic minerals with higher hardness, especially quartz ore.
This rod mill offers the following advantages:
1. During the grinding process, the grinding medium makes line contact with the ore, providing a selective grinding effect;
2. The product particle size is relatively uniform, with fewer over-ground particles;
3. When used for coarse grinding, the rod mill has a higher processing capacity than a ball mill of the same specification;
4. Stable operation, energy saving, and high output.
